Age Groups
At Turkish Academy, we organize our classes by age groups: 7–9, 10–12, and 13–15. Because each stage of childhood comes with different learning needs, attention spans, and interests. By tailoring our lesson plans to match their age and proficiency level, we ensure that every child learns Turkish in a fun, engaging, and developmentally appropriate way.

7 – 9 Years Old
Lessons for this age group are built around play-based learning, songs, games, and visuals to introduce Turkish in a fun and natural way. Our lesson plans are carefully crafted for early learners who are just beginning their language journey. At this level, the focus is on basic vocabulary, simple expressions, and listening skills.

10 – 12 Years Old
Children in this group follow an engaging and structured curriculum that includes interactive tasks, storytelling, and beginner-level speaking and writing activities. The lesson plan is adapted to their growing attention span and curiosity, helping them move beyond the basics and build confidence in everyday Turkish.

13 – 15 Years Old
Teens in this group follow a more advanced lesson plan with real-life scenarios, roleplays, and cultural topics tailored to their interests. Each student is placed at the right proficiency level—beginner or intermediate—so they can improve speaking, reading, and comprehension in a meaningful and age-appropriate way.
Why is it important for kids to learn Turkish?

1
To connect with their roots and culture
Learning Turkish helps children build a stronger sense of identity and belonging. It gives them access to stories, music, traditions, and values that are part of their family heritage.
2
To communicate with relatives in Türkiye
Speaking Turkish allows kids to talk to grandparents, cousins, and other family members during visits or video calls, creating meaningful relationships and lifelong memories.
3
To prepare for future opportunities
Bilingual kids have a major advantage when applying to international exchange programs like NSLI-Y, YES, or even university scholarships. Starting young builds a strong foundation.
4
To build language and social skills
Language learning boosts memory, focus, and confidence. In interactive classes, kids also develop communication skills, collaboration, and cultural awareness.
5
To make summer meaningful and fun
Instead of spending hours on screens, kids can enjoy a summer filled with games, stories, and creative activities—all while learning a valuable skill that stays with them for life.
